Overview
Our team-built Neighborhood Needs Index that ranks Allegheny County ZIP codes by relative access to essential resources, producing a composite score from 0 to 1 to highlight areas of resource scarcity.
Approach
Compiled resource-access indicators spanning hospitals, schools, parks, grocery stores, and internet coverage. Combined Python-based processing with data from Google Maps, the American Community Survey, and GIS platforms to normalize indicators and compute a composite index score per ZIP code.
Outputs
A PowerPoint presentation (with an embedded demo via a 'User Input Recording' slide), an embedded online presentation viewer, and a linked sample code page for implementation reference. Includes a dataset link to the American Community Survey.
